Erdödy Castle is located in Jastrebarsko, little city between Zagreb and Karlovac. Actually it is located in a beautiful old park that is a monument of horticulture.
The first fortress was built at this site between 1483 and 1489. That was a rectangular Renaissance burg with four rounded towers at the corners and a water moat (wasserburg).
The family of Croatian Ban Toma Erdödy, the great victor over the Turks came into possession of the Jastrebarsko land, which included the castle, in the first half of the 16th century and remained in possession until 1922.
The castle was towers was one of the keeps during Ottoman invasions.
