National Park Brijuni
Brijuni islands (also known as Brionian island) are located in northern Adriatic Sea. It consists 14 islands. The largest island, Veliki Brijun, lies 2 kilometers off the coast. Some of other islands are Mali Brijun, Sveti Marko, Okrugljak, Galija, Grunj, Vagna, Madona…
Brijuni are known as “the heaven on Earth” because of its coast, glorious history, and various flora and fauna. The most important plant associations of Veliki Brijun Island are: Maquis shrubland, Holm Oak, and Laurel forest, and Conifers, which are very characteristic of the region. There is also an Safari Park where you can find various of exotic animals which were given to the park such as nilgai, zebu and Asian elephant.
On October 27, 1983, Brijuni was proclaimed a national park and is a favorite tourist destination.
